Paint n’ Cocktails knows how important it is to provide an art education for children, by giving them the opportunity to express themselves and create something beautiful. We provide a variety of painting classes for children, from in-studio classes to private parties in Plantation and Coconut Creek, FL. If you need some engaging and inexpensive creative activities to do with your children in between art classes, we’ve provided a couple of great ideas below.
Butterfly Feeder
- What You’ll Need
- Any Plastic Bottle with Lid
- Cotton Ball
- Rubber Bands
- Flowers
- Yarn
- Water
- Sugar
Directions
- Wrap a strong rubber band around on the bottom half of the water bottle
- Tie a piece of yarn around the rubber band on both sides of the water bottle
- Put additional rubber bands around the bottle
- Cut a small hole in the middle of the lid and place the cotton ball through the lid.
- Place flowers underneath the various rubber bands to create a camouflage effect
- Make sugar water (butterfly food) by mixing 1 cup of water and ¼ cup of sugar
- Put the mixture inside of the bottle and put the lid on top
- Hang it outside (the lid with the cotton ball wick should be facing the ground)
Dragonfly Clothespin Magnet
- What You’ll Need
- Clothespins
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Markers
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Magnets
Directions
- Create a fun design on the front of your clothespins with markers
- Glue two googly eyes on the “mouth” side of the clothespin (where the pin opens and closes)
- Make two dragonfly wings with two pipe cleaners, by creating two long loops and twisting in the middle. Repeat this with another pipe cleaner
- Glue the wings on the inside of the mouth of the clothespin
- Add a magnet on the back of the clothespin
- Stick your magnet on the fridge for the entire family to see
